Design Principles
A timeless aesthetic, constructed with quality materials ensuring product longevity. Purposefully created to meet low carbon standards by leveraging innovative Passive House design principles.

Largely popular in Europe and an innovative design practice in Australia currently, passive homes are built by 5 principles: air tightness, thermal insulation, mechanical ventilation heat recovery, high-performance windows and thermal bridge-free construction.
We have leveraged these principles to ensure our builds are energy-efficient, quiet and comfortable to live in all year round.

The Space is sympathetic to the Australian landscapes it finds itself in and feels a natural fit with the Places in which it is situated.

Quality materials, high-performance design and progressive building practices ensure our Space will stand the test of time.
All materials have been selected to withstand the harsh Australian climate. Hardy materials such as corrugated iron and hardwood timber cladding change and conform with the local environment and seasons.
The interior materials in high use areas are purposeful in both their minimalist style and practicality. Stainless steel in cooking and wet areas, hardwood engineered timber floors and concrete composite bathroom finish.
An optimal inside environment has been created through an intricate modular system designed to repel and remove moisture, creating healthy air for guests and extending the life of all structural materials and finishes.

Quad-1 is designed to protect against BAL 29 conditions.
Material selection plays a significant part with the use of hardwood and corrugated iron cladding on exterior surfaces protecting the structure against BAL 29 and BAL40 respectfully.
We have also implemented systems designed to protect against ember attack by modifying reveals around the windows and the subfloor of the dwelling.

We build our Spaces in a controlled environment. Our modular designs are based on standard sheet sizes, ensuring that manufacturers' waste is significantly reduced.
Additionally, the Quad-1 is fit out for use with a Biological Septic Tank which treats both black and grey water, with minimal to no use of external power. Power collected through our solar panels is also conserved by a battery storage unit.
A high-performing product with a greater lifespan means we are creating buildings that can stand the test of time.
High-Performance Design
High-performance dwellings are designed to create thermal comfort with minimal heating or cooling. We are one of the first in Australia to reimagine what small space design can achieve.

The structure is built using structurally insulated panels which are two outer layers of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) encasing an Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) core.
Our design utilises 215mm thick panels for the roof and floor and 115mm for the walls ensuring the highest level of thermal insulation.

Combining structurally insulated panels with Proclima’s top-of-the-range, patented weather and airtightness system we create an air and weather-tight building envelope resulting in greater thermal and energy efficiency and product longevity.

We partner with industry-leading window manufacturer Binq and employ their high-performing, thermally efficient, double-glazed window systems.

Put simply, we reduce the weak points in our structure where heat can escape. In addition to the construction methods mentioned above, we go the extra mile to ensure practices such as ensuring all glazing is set within the insulation boundaries. This means the Quad-1 is equipped for the highest possible performance.

We use a high-efficiency Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning Recovery system unit for a constant supply of fresh-tempered air. The main benefits are:
Improved air quality - the system reduces allergens and pollutants in the air. Great for asthmatics, people hyper-sensitive to allergens and for those who live in bushfire-prone and polluted regions.
Moisture reduction - reduces the risk of mould, boosting product longevity.
Low odour - incorporated humidity sensors automatically neutralise odour, boosting overall comfort.
Dust - the system mitigates the build-up of common dust typically found within livable spaces.

A high-quality dwelling with efficient cost savings through the substitution of structural materials. uPVC Low-E double-glazed windows replace timber, corrugated iron cladding on the roof and external walls rather than hardwood, and a simplified bed with basic kitchen joinery.
